My motivations and inspirations
My work includes a variety of media, mainly glass and ceramics and ranges from figurative and vessel forms to abstract sculptures. The use of nature and my color choices are repeated through all of my work. I appreciate delicacy and detail in art and I often strive to create work that is technically challenging. A large portion of my work is influenced by memory. I believe that memories are constantly shifting, some decay while others rise to the surface. I enjoy trying to evoke common nostalgia with the viewer as a form of interaction. I try to create this by using common experiences or emotions. I am also heavily inspired by historical ceramics and anthropological studies. I am intrigued by study of the individual. Understanding what they valued and what they achieved and the role art played in their society.
